Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a current from flowing on heated objects by providing insulating films on the contact faces kept in direct contact with the heated objects of an electrode generating a glow discharge. SOLUTION: Water 16, 17 is fed to a passage 7 between an outer electrode 51 and an outer tube 4 and a passage 11 between an inner electrode 52 and an inner tube 8 respectively. A voltage is applied to both electrodes 51, 52 from an AC power source 14, a glow discharge is generated in a discharge space filled with discharge gas 18, and water 16, 17 is heated by the discharge heat. Insulating films 20, 21 are provided on the inner and outer peripheral faces kept in contact with the water 16, 17 of the outer electrode 51 and the inner electrode 52. The insulating films 20, 21 are made of an acrylic silicone resin, for example, they are made very thin to about 50μm or below not to hinder heat transmission. COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
