PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dental composite restorative material, having optical characteristics essentially close to those of natural teeth and useful for restoring an enamel or formation, etc., of a dental crown comprising the enamel by regulating the light transmittance of a composite restorative material within a specific range.
SOLUTION: This dental composite restorative material is regulated so as to provide 0.002-0.3 degree of diffusion D of transmitted light defined by formula I [I is the luminous intensity of light transmitted through a sample; I 0 , I 20 and I 70 are each the luminous intensity (the intensity of light) in the directions at 0, 20 and 70° tilted from the direction vertical to the sample plate (incident directions of light) and the angles of the trigonometric function are same]. When the material is used for restoring an enamel or forming a dental crown comprising the enamel, D is preferably within the range of 0.002-0.01. When the material is used for restoring a dentin or the dental crown or forming the dental crown comprising the dentin, D is preferably within the range of 0.007-0.3. Furthermore, the material formed into a platy material having 1mm thickness is regulated so as to provide 0.45-0.65 value of the contract ratio C in formula II [Y b is a value of the XYZ color system measured in a black box, etc.; Y w is a value of the XYZ system against a white background (Y=93-97)].
